Kobe's Story

On 3/11/08 we received a call from a lady saying she found a Shih Tzu walking in a warehouse district about 11pm. He did not have any ID on him so the next morning she took him to the vet to be scanned for a microchip. With out any luck there she went into local neighborhoods to track down the owner. When she found the home, the owner said "I put him out- why did you bring him back to me".

That same day we were able to get Kobe to the vet and found him to be healthy with vary little vision in his right cataract  eye and no vision in his blood filled  left eye. He was started on  oral and topical medications to help the inflammation...

On 3/14/08 Kobe had a full eye evaluation from a specialist that concurred with the previous diagnosis with a bunch of specific stats on the different eye pressures...  Kobe was then given an additional topical  eye drop for both eyes and we were given an $1,800 estimate for Cataract surgery so he could see from the right eye. So then Get A Life Pet Rescue volunteers started campaigning for sponsorship for Kobe's eye surgery. Emails, web postings,  event planning and more!

PLEASE HELP KOBE SEE!!!
On 3/20/08 Kobe had a full panel blood test to verify all his organ functions were normal and healthy enough for neutering, and  he was!

The next day he had bruising around his belly and rear legs, so he was at the vet again and treated for a blood clotting disorder. Two days later the bruising was gone and his even more fantastic personality emerged! He started to do a circle dance when he was excited and even BARK for attention and food!
On 3/25/08 Kobe received a check up with the eye specialist to  verify his progress with the meds. All looked good and Kobe was not in pain from the blood filled budging eye that looked like he had had a trauma or injury to. This was a big relief to us since it looked like the eye would have been hurting him and giving discomfort.

The Spring Bling Doggy Fashion Show Event in Kobe's honor is in full planning effect! We are hoping to rais the funds for Kobe

Well Spring Bling was fabulous but we did not raise enough money for Kobe. BUT a volunteer offered to front the rest of the money so Kobe and move forward, be adopted and we can take in another dog!

On 3/28/08Kobe completed his last pre-operation test to make sure all was well for him to undergo both the cataract surgery and the injection to stop the fluids to the glaucoma eye. His appointment is in a few days! We are so excited and grateful!
